Recently, some of my friends have moved into new homes and I’ve been getting lots of questions on where to shop for furniture, kitchenware, and decor so I thought I’d put together a little guide based on my personal experience furnishing my studio in San Francisco from scratch last year 💝

This guide is for you if you’re looking to put some more intention into furnishing your home but don’t know where to start. Maybe it’s your first time moving in with your SO or you’re moving to a new city with your friends or you just want to put more effort into making your space more beautiful. Maybe IKEA and Amazon just don’t pass the vibe check anymore and you’re wanting to invest in some quality pieces that have a much nicer, more elevated feel to them.

Here, you’ll find links to my favorite places to shop for home goods and furniture. All of these brands are ones I personally love, shop at, and trust, as an artist with a love for interior design. My own apartment was recently featured in Apartment Therapy (article) (video tour), and I also just find so much joy in inspiring others to make their homes a reflections of themselves. I personally gravitate towards brands that embrace simple shapes and pops of color and that also have a thoughtful approach to sustainability.

Disclaimer: A small percentage of these links are affiliate and I may make a small commission if you buy something. My big hope though is that this document is a meaningful resource to you and saves you hours of scrolling on the Internet by giving you a place of trust to start shopping from. I also encourage you to combine buying new with thrifted and to support small businesses and artists when you can.

So without further ado:

Furniture

Article, EQ3, West Elm, CB2

Other notes: I actually bought my couch from Urban Outfitters Home which was a huge gamble but it’s surprisingly really well made and comfy. I’d be cautious shopping from here though. Read reviews. Large mirrors can also really brighten up a space - mine is from West Elm.

Bed Frame

I really like (and personally own) Thuma. Beyond just being really well made, it’s easy to carry upstairs by yourself and assembles in 20 mins. It has a detachable headboard so you can swap yours out with one you like better (I swapped mine with this one from Article and it’s a stunner).
